125 years of bootmaking history!
Totectors, the byword for safety footwear in the UK, celebrates 125 years of boot making this year. The foundations of Totectors were laid back in 1885 by Mr Wilkins and Mr B. Denton from a prominent Northamptonshire family. In 1944, his successor, Mr G. Denton acquired the rights to introduce, for the first time in the UK and British Territories the first steel “safety box toes” from the inventor, based in Massachusetts USA. The impetus for this was from the British Ministry of Labour, to counter the injuries being sustained to the miners engaged in the armament industry producing weapons for World War II. Totectors become the first company in Europe to introduce what eventually became known as steel toe safety shoes.
Totectors has come a long way since then. It is now owned by an Indian company with a history of six generations in leather and shoe making. With its own tannery and latest German technology Totectors produces hundreds of thousands of pairs of dual injection TPU/PU footwear for the UK, Europe, Middle East and the Gulf states. The company has recently invested millions of dollars in research and development to remain at the forefront of latest safety footwear technology. Some of their latest footwear were show-cased at the A+A 2009, in Germany, with further development to be exhibited at the premier UK Safety and Health Expo 2010.
With exciting times ahead, Totectors is looking for stockists worldwide.
