My Name is Geoff Fox, I am married (second) and have three grown-up children, I love all sports especially golf and football, walking the dog and holidaying in Kenya where my wife and I have adopted an Elephant and I enjoy scuba diving. I live in the New Forest area of Hampshire 

I began my career in the construction industry as a hod carrier in 1988, attended college to achieve a city and guilds carpentry and joinery certificate in 1991. It was around this time I discovered I had a real penchant for discovering hazards in the form of some minor accidents that I sustained over the coming years whilst working on the tools so to speak, all of which could have been avoided by me and only me. 

I started work at Gatwick Airport in 1993 as a maintenance carpenter leading to a supervisory role in 1995 and was eventually offered a chance to join the Health and Safety Team in 1999, this is where my ‘safety’ journey through my working career changed dramatically.  

I have worked on Airports construction both in the UK and Canada since and I truly believe that safety is a basic human right that everybody regardless of the sector is entitled too. I have been working for Dyer and Butler since 2004 and I am now responsible for the Health and Safety of the Aviation Division. 

In my time with Dyer and Butler I have seen the benefits of Behavioural Safety and I have been instrumental in developing and improving our company Behavioural Safety Program. 

I now head up a team of five advisors within the division and strive to be the focal point for bringing my extensive airport experience to my team and I am always looking to push the boundaries to deliver a practical safety solution whilst ensuring the wellbeing of the workforce and our clients' assets are protected as top priorities. 

I believe that safety in the home is just as important and quite often drive my family mad! 

Jonathan is Head of Product at IOSH, the only Chartered body representing the occupational safety and health profession globally with 47,000 members in 130 countries.

Holly Price has been the Training and Development Director at Keltbray Group since 2007, playing a crucial role in engineering sustainable and considerable growth, through getting the right people in the right place at the right time.  

Holly started her career in the demolition industry at just 17 training to be an Engineer and went on to become Europe’s only female Explosives Engineer in the sector. In March 2019, Holly became the first female president of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors.  

Holly actively promotes the need to widen the talent pool by embracing diversity and attracting newcomers from all backgrounds to the industry, and she tirelessly campaigns for continuous improvement of industry standards. 

Having witnessed the challenges that the industry was facing in terms of a potential skills shortage, she decided to move into a more people focused role and is helping Keltbray go from strength to strength. 

Joscelyne is Director of Strategy at Mates in Mind, a new charity founded by the Health in Construction Leadership Group and British Safety Council which was launched in 2017.

Mates in Mind seeks to raise awareness, address the stigma of poor mental health and improve mental wellbeing amongst employers and organisations across the construction and associated industries.

My interest in engineering (design or mechanical) and product design stems from when I was very young. I often used to enjoy building constructional sets from companies such as Lego, K’Nex and Meccano.

I took the opportunity to do the product design GCSE course as well as the fine art GCSE course, both of which I found very useful in my development and understanding of engineering and product design.  

Nick is the HSE Director for the UK & Eu Division for Serco. Serco specialises in the delivery of essential public services, with over 50,000 people working in defence, transport, justice, immigration, healthcare and other citizen services across their four global regions. 

After two successful relay crossings of the English Channel, in July 2014 under the CS&PF rules he became the first man that year to successfully solo swim the Channel, raising over £5000 for children’s charities.  

Leif has a background in electromechanical engineering and life sciences having spent more than a decade developing life science instrumentation for medical diagnostics and biotech research markets across start-up and multinational companies.

Now leading research & development within Reactec he leverages experience gained across sectors to develop tools for the advancement of HAVS understanding and effective reduction. 

Claude C. Asgill studied Economics, then recognising a changing world - Technology following that with Project Management and Risk Management. 

Describing herself as an Entrepreneur, a Fundraiser, an advocate for Mental Health and a juggler of balls. 

She considers herself to be a Renaissance Woman.  

Initially employed as a stockbroker in the City. She had enjoyed an interesting career in the Public Sector then moved into Technology departments for a number of internationally famous household Media Industry Fortune 500 companies. 

An unexpected life change saw her career change for a third time again into a male-dominated industry which led her to discover her interest in Mental Health and prompted the journey she is currently on. 

She has been a qualified Certified Hypnotherapist for a few years now. Claude qualified with the National Guild of Hypnotherapists (NGH) one of the most prestigious / recognised organisations to train with. 

As a Hypnotherapist she has worked with clients mainly who are experiencing performance anxiety, are training for sporting events or experiencing fears and phobias. These are her favourite type of client. She also works with people who just want to feel more relaxed and to enjoy better sleep. 

In the last year she has become a passionate speaker on the topic of Mental Health and the stigma surrounding it having witnessed the harmful effects of this first-hand & second-hand. She has participated in a number of conferences/exhibitions this year. And has been featured in one high profile Magazine article and is due to be featured in a number of others in the coming months. 

Catherine joined Artizian Catering in 2012 & is responsible for driving all aspects of the company's nutrition & wellbeing strategy for Artizian’s clients & their employees. She co-founded Nutrition-Bites with MD Alison Frith, in 2017, on the back of an increasing corporate interest in nutrition, as part of an employee health & wellbeing strategy.

Catherine’s work has been recognised nationally. She has created award-winning nutrition & wellbeing solutions to support workplace wellbeing, providing employees the foundations they need to perform at their best.

Catherine constantly drives the groups’ thought leadership in developing healthy eating strategies that are ‘nutritionally-led, chef inspired’, & is the key driver for all of the groups the health & wellbeing initiatives.

With over 25 years’ experience working in food, she has become an essential part of the groups’ senior management team driving their Intelligent Eating programme to encourage clients & their employees to move from mindless eating to conscious eating, through educating, informing & inspiring people to eat well at work.

Kizzy is a partner in the fraud and criminal litigation team at Russell Cooke Solicitors, specialising in Health & Safety / Fire Safety. She is a solicitor advocate with Higher Rights of Audience who appears regularly as an advocate in court proceedings, employment tribunals (for appealing Improvement and Prohibition notices) and Coroners' inquests.

She has significant experience in defending companies, senior directors and employees in corporate manslaughter and serious fire / health and safety prosecutions. Kizzy has a particular interest in the law relating to directors' health and safety duties and health and safety issues within the construction, care homes, environmental, manufacturing, fire, rail and retail industries. She provides strategic advice to a number of high profile corporate and commercial clients – both contentious advice in response to an actual incident, as well as preventative consultancy advice in relation to corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current safety legislation.

Kizzy regularly speaks on expert panels relating to health and safety / corporate manslaughter issues and has hosted many seminars and lectures, often as a keynote speaker, on the impact of health and safety and fire safety legislation for organisations and individuals.  She has been recognised by The Legal 500 (2017) as a "Next Generation Lawyer" and is one of SHP’s 15 most influential people in Health and Safety.

Harry has first-hand experience when it comes to identifying potential high slip risk areas and thrives on working with customer's to reduce the risk of slip posed by their floor surfaces in the most cost effective ways. 

Harry has worked with customers from all types of industries such as food manufacturing, shopping centres, leisure centres, bus and train stations to implement in house solutions to effectively reduce and properly manage the risk of slip.  

Harry takes time to help customers understand their duty of care by exploring The Health & Safety at work act 1974 and The Management of Health and Safety at work regulations 1999, interpreting and relating these to the customer's everyday environments.    

Harry's practical knowledge of the coefficient of friction has made him a popular speaker at recent Health and Safety events over the last couple of years.

Many customers have found his recommendations and advice have significantly reduced the number of reported incidents on their premises saving them time, money and improving staff moral. 

Harry has extensive knowledge of both the Pendulum and the SlipAlert - the only two pieces of equipment recognised by the HSE and is able to discuss the benefits of each piece of equipment and the environments they are most appropriate for.  Harry has an ongoing and professional relationship with the former chairman of the BSI committee which was responsible for BS7976 (The Pendulum standard) who has been keen to share his unrivaled expertise with Harry to benefit customers all over the UK. 

Heather Beach is the founder and Managing Director of The Healthy Work Company. She has been running businesses in the health and safety community for over 20 years.Having started in information services running the first available health and safety service from HSE on CD-ROM at SilverPlatter -she moved to Barbour and then to Safety & Health Expo, SHP, and IOSH conference.Heather is a specialist in organisational cultural change. A qualified coach, she and her partners and associates are committed to transforming the way in which the health and safety profession is viewed by the general public.The founder of Women in Health and Safety and the Barbour webinar series which attracts over 3000 attendees a month -Heather continues to run both of these in partnership with UBM. As MD Ben has been responsible for growing the business and developing several unique software products.

With a background in computer science and 3D imaging, he has helped design and build tools and applications to enhance training, operation and maintenance procedures, helping to deliver unprecedented new workflows and efficiencies in complex industrial environments. 

Who am I? well, I have a pretty unforgettable name  Keith Blowes, I’m a Senior SHESQ Manager with J Murphy and Sons Ltd, working on the innovative, positive, challenging but ultimately fulfilling (unforgettable HS2 Project in EWC North. I am CFIOSH, FIIRSM, Lead Auditor, Lead Investigator, Mental Health First Aider......

Where did I come from? My history recently is predominantly risk management and supplier education, but historically I have done many, many different jobs (the last 20 or so in here, everything from a pot washer, to customer services, through to head-hunting and insurance sales. 

Firstly I am here to give you an account of my own experiences, highlighting LMJV as somewhat of a leading light on the HS2 project, working with contractors and employees alike. Secondly, we can all learn from each other, and what I highlight today may help someone or trigger a thought tomorrow. 

The journey I walk through with you might be one you can associate with, it might be something that in no way compares to issues you have seen or faced directly, but I think it is important to get the conversation started with contractors and employees alike, don’t you?

Richard has over 20 years of experience in the field of industrial safety, with significant expertise in heavy manufacturing, power, recycling and construction industries.

Three years in the power industry with both Centrica and GE advising on safety and environmental management on several gas-fired power stations.

Involved both in day to day advisory capacity and power station outage works.  Provided a mix of process safety (gas pipeline, pressure systems, etc) and occupational safety advice and support. Heavily involved in a culture change programme to change high-risk outage work to a more inclusive safety approach.

Six years’ self-employed, providing specialist advice to a wide range of companies, including: RWEnPower; ThyssenKrupp; Tata steel; DS Smith Packaging; AAG Logistics. Provided consultancy advice as: CDM co-ordinator in the coal power station industry, construction, LNG, paper industry; HAZOP chair in the steel industry; project supervision and audit in many industries.

Six years as Divisional Safety Manager for St Regis Paper Company which incorporated circa 2000 staff and covered 6 paper mills, 19 recycled depots and 14 logistics depots.

Stephanie Camm is Head of Health and Safety at Unite Students, leading a team of seven H&S professionals to manage safety across 130 UK properties that are home to 50,000 students. Using Unite’s Brand Promise of ‘Safe and Secure’, Steph and her team focus on educating and engaging students in their own personal safety and well as encouraging employee ownership and leadership within the workplace for safety, security, fire, health and wellbeing. Steph is a strong believer in seizing opportunities, taking responsibility for your own career development and is an advocate for promoting change within the H&S industry. 

Robert founded the Association in 2011 to raise the profile and professionalism of scaffolding within the Construction Industry. He has worked as a Health and Safety consultant, CDM Co-ordinator and Temporary Works Co-ordinator for a range of clients including multi-national companies, local authorities and UK charities for over 15 years.

He is a graduate member of IOSH, an incorporated member of the Association of Project Safety and has a Fellowship from the Royal Society of Public Health. 

Since serving with the British Army, Andy Cartwright has gained over 30 years’ practical experience working as a Forklift Truck and Access Equipment Instructor and Training Manager.

In his current role as Technical Manager for Mentor FLT Training, he develops training courses across a range of workplace transport equipment, advises on updates and legislative changes and works closely with customers to solve problems and identify training solutions. 

As well as remaining a Registered AITT Instructor and Instructor Examiner for IPAF, Andy is a Member of the AITT Standards Committee and Council, and spent 2 years on IPAF’s International Training Committee.

He is also a Chartered Member of IOSH, a Member of the Institute of Industrial Accident Investigators and a Fellow of the International Institute of Risk Safety Managers. 

He is well-respected in his field, having recently been involved with the Accrediting Bodies Association to assist in standardising testing for MHE and previously being called upon by the HSE as an expert witness. 

Robin Cohen has worked for the pharmaceutical division of Johnson & Johnson for 18 years in sales and marketing functions. He is responsible for the leadership of Johnson & Johnson’s Infectious Diseases Business which covers all of the company’s therapeutic medicines treating diseases from HIV to TB.

Johnson & Johnson is the largest healthcare company in the world. In the UK the company has approximately 2,500 company car and grey fleet drivers. Robin currently chairs the cross-sector Safe Fleet initiative that reaches all sectors of the company with the single aim of ensuring that every day, Johnson & Johnson drivers return home safely.

Richard is committed to propelling the profession forward through collaboration and knowledge-sharing. The host of the UK's leading HSE podcast, Richard's 10+ years of HSE experience have included working in construction, manufacturing & facilities management, with roles ranging from local authorities to global blue-chip companies. 

Ed Corbett is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist at the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). He heads up HSE's commercial Human Factors and Psychology teams.  

Working for the national regulator, Ed has a detailed understanding of regulatory requirements and how duty holders can demonstrate compliance. Based at its Buxton laboratory, Ed contributes significantly to HSE’s cutting edge research in human factor and safety science.  

Prior to his time at HSE, Ed worked as a consultant and coach across a broad range of industries and in every continent, specialising in helping organisations develop leadership capability.  

Today he combines his regulatory understanding, scientific knowledge and real-world experience to help organisations achieve sustainable health and safety improvement.  

An inspirational speaker with expertise in the delivery of outstanding social care, crisis intervention, and excellent leadership, Jonathan Cunningham MBE is a highly successful entrepreneur and business mentor. 

Born in Liverpool, the eldest of four siblings, Jonathan entered the armed forces after attending The Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst, where he served for 16 years during an impressive career that saw him complete active service in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Iraq.  

In 2004, whilst attending the Joint Command and Staff College, Jonathan’s life was changed forever when he suffered a cardiac arrest.  

Having made a full recovery Jonathan was promoted to regional Chief of Staff over the NW Army; here he designed and rolled out an audacious new plan to engage with disaffected youth in deprived city areas - the project was a huge success, and it was this accolade that saw Jonathan awarded an MBE by her majesty the Queen in 2010.  

Having served in the armed forces for much of his adult life Jonathan made the tough decision to leave the organisation that he had previously loved and served, entering the NHS as a senior director before founding his own highly successful care consultancy – STORM UK.  

From here Jonathan Cunningham Global was launched, and in addition to speaking at conferences and events throughout the country, Jonathan is regularly asked to offer his expert opinion by media outlets on important social care issues.

Nicola Curtis has over 13 years' experience within the Health and Safety profession, working within the Construction, Highways, Waste Management and Utilities sectors.

She has successfully implemented behavioural safety programs, focused on transition within large mobilisations contracts as well as latterly focusing on Process Safety.

She has used Kelvin TOP-SET for over 10 years, became an In-House Tutor 4 years ago and trained 400 employees in the 1-Day Investigator Course. 

An inspiring progressive safety professional, with 15 years’ experience across nuclear, logistics, transport and gaming industries.

Her major passion for her profession, coupled with her people first approach and exceptional ability to influence, has seen her reduce accidents in more than one role by as much as 85%.

She believes the future of the profession is Wellbeing, ensuring employees are 'well beings' encompasses both health (mental and physical) and safety, and if you want to find answers or innovation in safety.....you engage the front line.

Duncan Davies is Co-founder and CEO of Notify, leading the company's #SafetyRevolution to make workers safer, healthier and more productive, wherever they are in the world, through smart technology. A passionate and knowledgeable advocate for technology, Duncan works closely with Notify clients such as Alexandra Palace, London Zoo, Siemens and Travis Perkins plc, helping Health and Safety professionals within each business to get the most out of the data Notify can provide

Helen is Group Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager at Vodafone Group Services, where she is responsible for supporting Vodafone’s Operating Companies in Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific regions.  Working in partnership with in country HS&W teams and regional leadership teams to develop and adapt Vodafone’s Global HS&W strategies locally, while appreciating different cultures and approaches. Encouraging collaboration and sharing of best practise and learnings across all markets is an important part of the role.

Helen has over 15 year’s experience, encompassing all aspects of health, safety, security, and wellbeing. Developing and leading the HSSW agenda and managing risk across diverse portfolios and fast paced environments such as retail, media, manufacturing, property and war zones.

Helen has previously worked at DTZ, as Head of Health, Safety, Security and Environment for Europe, Middle East and Africa and as Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing at News International - Newspaper publishing and manufacturing.

After graduating from Newcastle University with a degree in Economics and Social Policy Marcus embarked on a 6-year stint in the City of London as part of the Institutional banking team at RBS – a role which means he has a good understanding of the pressures many of us face in our day-to-day jobs. Marcus left banking in 2006 to bring a concept from the US to the UK in customised chairs to take controlled rest breaks (naps) during the working day. 

In 2011 Third Pillar of Health was born after a split of the equipment and consultancy arms. Third Pillar of Health helps organisations improve key business metrics by helping staff overcome the debilitating health, safety and productivity effects of tiredness, sleep deprivation and fatigue through assessments, training, online learning and interactive workshops. 

Our online sleep health self-assessment and training programmes have been developed in conjunction with leading sleep research scientists and Marcus has run numerous face-to-face and online training sessions for a wide variety of clients and job roles. 

Marcus has recently embarked on a 3.5-year programme of work with Transport for London to identify key fatigue hotspots, to recommend interventions and to track the effectiveness of those interventions. Marcus has also worked with 13 UK police forces and household names such as Diageo, Oracle, “K” Line LNG, Simply Business, Innospec, Lend Lease, Unilever, Thames Tideway and many other organisations. 

I have been at ITV 14 years and I am now the Group Risk Director having started my career in Health and Safety.

 In my current role, I develop and  oversee the Group approach to risk management embedding it throughout the global business.

Key to our success is delivering an approach that engages and supports all our people and allows us to deliver a culture where risk is discussed, understood and owned by the business rather than the central risk functions. 

Helen is a partner in the Manchester office and heads the SHE regulatory team nationally for BLM. She specialises in defending companies and individuals involved in HSE/CPS/EHO investigations and prosecutions. She advises both individuals and companies in manslaughter and complex HSE cases.

Helen is an accomplished regulatory lawyer with a high profile client base operating in many sectors but in particular in the manufacturing, engineering, construction and care industries.

She has been ranked in the Legal 500 as a “real expert” and “just outstanding”; and was described in the Legal 500 2018 as “undoubtedly impressive” and “calm, helpful and very capable”.

Helen is a frequent and accomplished speaker at national and trade safety events on specific regulatory issues as well as trends in the regulatory environment including fee for intervention, best practice in safety management, coroners’ reform and the new sentencing guidelines.

She has developed the “BLM tracker” which is a user-friendly app for tracking health and safety sentencing and its data and analysis has been published and referenced widely in the press.

Ann is the owner of ‘Work Safe and Well’, bringing a creative approach to developing management strategies to influence a positive, healthy and safe working culture.

Having worked as a Health and Safety practitioner in a range of settings in the Public, Voluntary and Private sectors, she has extensive experience in leading and facilitating groups and affecting a positive working culture. She has worked with several organisations to support and developer profession, gaining distinguished service awards from IOSHfor her voluntary work with branch and national committees.

Nichola is passionate about safety, health and wellbeing.  Her background is diverse with experience in a variety of organisations such as Battersea Dog’s and Cat’s Home, Christie’s Auction House, Spectrum Housing Group and EMCOR UK as well as military experience as an Army officer which has led to a broad skill set.  Her roles have often had operational focus but always with a health and safety bent. 

Nichola has had great success leading these organisations in creating healthier and safer working environments and improving their overall safety culture.  Her excitement and drive to support staff to be more effective in the workplace led her to join the Capita H&S Consultancy to enable her to reach out to a larger number of organisations.

At Capita, Nichola’s role is to take her experience and enthusiasm for stress and mental health management in the workplace and create products that can truly help organisations manage their staff in a compassionate way.  This then allows the organisation to become more productive, reduce costs such as recruitment and absence management and become an employer of choice.

In addition to leading the Wellness at Work team, Nichola also manages Capita’s health and safety training division, delivering both accredited and bespoke training across a multitude of H&S topics.  Helping some of the country’s leading organisations such as Skanska and Southern Water to ensure their employees are trained to the highest standards.  Nichola provides training at all levels from senior leadership and throughout the operational structure.

Gary Escott’s experience in health and safety spans 25 years. He’s a co-founding director of SiteZone Safety, which has now become the leading UK-wide supplier of the SiteZone proximity warning system. 

SiteZone is a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) proximity warning system using vibration, audio and visual alerts to enable collision prevention.

Claire Farrow drives the content for the information hub, fortnightly newsletter and event called Mad World. She is passionate about fresh thinking for the future of work, with a particular interest in harnessing the power of business to support and promote mental health and wellbeing.

Claire likes to think of herself as a forerunner of the gig economy and enjoys the flexibility of being freelance, along with the daily company of Lyla, her black Labrador.

Andy Forbes was up until recently the Director Health and Safety Improvement for Babcock’s Marine Sector. Andy started his career as an Apprentice at the Rosyth site in 1976, gaining the trade of Mechanical Fitter.

During his career he has held various roles in production, including being a Commissioning Engineer tasked with setting to work the Weapons Handling systems on submarines.

Andy moved into health and safety in 1991. During this time, his aspirations were to develop a Health, Safety and Environmental culture which would embrace all those working across Babcock.

Samantha will equip you with an understanding of new and emerging drug and alcohol trends, the latest statistics and facts and the process of creating, implementing and reviewing drug and alcohol policies.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gary Gallagher and at the first company I worked for there was a fall from height. Twenty-two years ago, in July 1996, whilst measuring a building for scaffolding works, an estimator fell through a wrought-iron balustrade from a height of 10 metres. Falling onto a cobbled street onto his hands and face, his injuries were extensive and his recovery slow.

His accident changed his life and had a deep effect on his family. With the support of family and close friends, he managed to turn this negative event into something positive by focussing on the future and looking at his fall accident as a life experience. This has driven me to share his story.

I now offer a Safety Awareness Presentation that features a hard-hitting, emotional, 40-minute talk that can be extended to suit the audience or can be adapted to form various types of training sessions. It carries a strong safety message, letting the audience see the stark reality of what a fall means, not only to the individual but their family and others involved.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this introduction and would be grateful for the opportunity to deliver my presentation to your workforce.

Ruth has a track record of improving Health & Wellbeing, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality at a Director level in large, complex, high risk organizations, in the construction, aviation, ports and logistics industries both in the UK and overseas.

She is passionate about improving HSSE performance through empowering people to own their space, their story and their development journey and believes that HSSE should align with and  leveraging business processes and leadership thinking to drive performance improvement.

An operational director for leading FM Company EMCOR UK, Jonathan acts in a senior advisory capacity to the UK Executive on behaviour change, health, safety and wellbeing, and is the lead of the organisation’s national health & safety forum.

With a background in Engineering and over twenty years in various EH&S roles Kevin has a worked in various sectors of industry including Automotive, Clinical Waste Disposal, Foundries and Heavy Engineering. He has also work in a number of countries including the USA, Mexico, Japan and mainland Europe.

Christopher Goscomb is an Organisational Change professional whose practice centres on participative and creative work that deeply involves people, using their voice, to influence their own futures. Christopher’s career has been strongly influenced by personal experience of safety events that make him passionate about creating a culture where people are ready to take ownership for their own safety and well-being allied with strong support to enable their behaviours from the organisation. Christopher is currently completing an Action Research based Doctorate in Organisational Change.  

Matthew has a wealth of experience from over 20 years at the criminal Bar and was previously a consultant at Birketts LLP before joining them in 2014.

He offers advice and representation in all areas of corporate and regulatory crime, specialising in health and safety, which includes a great deal of construction related work.

The team at Birketts includes specialist regulatory lawyers and several ex-HSE Inspectors as consultants, offering a variety of services to their clients 

Judith Grant is Associate Director - Health and Wellbeing at Mace Group and is responsible for strategic wellbeing, occupational hygiene and occupational health delivery across the global construction, consultancy and facilities management business.

As the former Group Head of Occupational Health and Wellbeing at Royal Mail Group Judith achieved success in developing and delivering wellbeing strategy and programmes in addition to overseeing occupational health and wellbeing contracts. With a background that includes working in community health for a local authority, in corporate health promoting wellbeing programmes to businesses and personal training both for a gym and privately, Judith has a varied background in health and wellbeing promotion.

Currently completing her Ph.D. in Occupational Health Psychology and Management at the University of Nottingham Judith has an interest in academic research on workplace wellbeing; her thesis is focused on socioeconomic status, obesity and dietary behaviours.

Judith is a Trustee of two charities: the Men’s Health Forum, a charity with the ambition for all men and boys - particularly those in the most disadvantaged areas and communities – to have the information, services and treatments they need to live healthier, longer and more fulfilling lives and the Mace Foundation, a charity set up to donate 1% of Mace profits to charitable causes in the communities they work, each year. 

Prior to joining RoSPA as the Fleet Safety Consultant, John was a Customs and Excise Officer working with the investigative teams, as part of this role he was involved with the gathering of evidence, interviewing of suspects and witnesses and preparing cases for Court.

Upon leaving the service he opened and ran a taxi business with a turnover in excess of £1m. Selling the business and looking for a quieter life he became a driving instructor specialising in the Fleet Driver market, developing a national training program for minibus drivers in the charity sector (MiDAS).

He holds various licences to deliver behavioural change courses to drivers, has a Nebosh General Certificate, a Road Safety Engineering qualification and is a QSA auditor for RoSPA as well as holding various driver qualifications.

My interest in engineering is also sprung off my liking for maths and physics which I have a passion for. I feel as I learn more on the breadth and application of engineering in the real world the greater my interest in other aspects of engineering grows. 

As a result, I have a very strong passion for engineering, which has grown and developed over time. I am constantly keeping up to date with the newest technologies and engineering advancements as it gives me an insight into the direction technology and engineering is moving in. 

A Chartered Member of IOSH, a Practitioner of IEMA and with a Masters degree in Health, Safety & Environment, Steve progressed into HS&E management through his career spent in engineering, within the nuclear industry, and also through the manufacturing sector.  

With over 20 years’ experience in the development and implementation of effective strategies, policies and systems in engineering and construction environments, Steve has worked for Nuclear Electric, Procter & Gamble, the Engineering Employers’ Federation and Siemens Energy before joining Europe’s largest infrastructure project, Crossrail, in April 2012 as Director of Health & Safety.

Steve joined Tideway at the beginning of June 2016 and is responsible for the successful implementation and application of the RightWay health and safety principles and for encouraging the demonstration of transformational health and safety performance by those delivering the project.

He is Chair of the Board of Trustees for Mates in Mind (the new mental health charity for UK construction), President of the Construction Health & Safety Group, an Executive member of the Health in Construction Leadership Group and Chair of the Transforming Tunnelling Safety Group.

Steve also represents Tideway on a number of Health & Safety groups including the Construction Client’s Health & Safety Group and the London Health & Safety Leads Group.  
 

Matt is Head of Health and Safety at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK’s biggest trusts with over 10,000 staff and caring for more than 1.6 million patients each year. He has worked in health and safety for over 15 years including NHS, higher education and research laboratories.

During his career, he has been involved in biosafety, risk management, wellbeing and coaching.

Alex Harriman is Head of Delivery at Cortexica Vision Systems, a Visual Artificial Intelligence company founded in 2008 from the bio-engineering labs of Imperial College London. 

He has spent over 20 years working in the Technology sector alongside cutting-edge start-ups and SME businesses, specialising in the delivery of digital and AI-based projects globally.

Matthew Hart is an engineer who's taking concepts used to prevent mechanical failures to help workers avoid on-the-job injuries. Matthew founded Soter Analytics in 2016 and launched the SoterSpine product which uses a wearable device to predict ergonomic injuries and coaches workers on how to reduce this risk. 

Soter prides themselves on having the most accurate solution on the market, yet the easiest for workers to use - it's a non-invasive sensor with a 30-day battery life and engaging app to allow workers to self-implement behaviour-based safety improvements. 

Lauren Hickling has over 10 years of Health and Safety experience working for various Divisions throughout the Travis Perkins Group. The Group is a leading FTSE-250 business employing 28,000 colleagues, with 20 trading businesses (including Travis Perkins Builders Merchants, Wickes, Toolstation and Keyline).  

During her career with the Group, Lauren has supported the businesses with: launching behavioural safety programmes, creating solutions to support colleague wellbeing and co-founded the Groups H&S Graduate programme which creates opportunities for budding safety professionals to put into practice their knowledge.  

Most recently, Lauren has been quick to develop the business’ thinking about how we embrace innovation and technology to improve the management of our key risks, through the use of virtual reality to improve driver safety and the collaboration with Soter Analytics to use of cost-effective wearable tech to highlight to colleagues poor manual handling practice and educate colleagues to make better decisions. 

Matthew previously worked for Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Foreign Office and Defra on health, safety and environmental topics, including worker involvement, climate change and fisheries policy. Since joining the British Safety Council, Matthew has overseen research and has managed several campaigns. He has also written widely about future risk in the workplace. Matthew currently runs British Safety Council’s young people campaign Speak Up Stay Safe and is working with King’s College, London, on a campaign to help reduce the exposure of outdoor workers to air pollution. 

Steve is an HSE Professional with many years of managerial, operational and project management experience (6 Sigma Black Belt/PRINCE 2 Practitioner) within a diverse range of industries. He is currently the Group Health, Safety, Security & Environment at Ladbrokes Coral Group.

Steve has a confident, versatile approach and a passion, natural flair and ambition for HSE matters, combined with new and innovative approaches to HSE management proven to make a positive difference.

Josh is a Senior Development Coach at Acre Frameworks, delivering end-to-end development programmes across a global portfolio. Josh’s work incorporates non-technical assessments, executive coaching and the design and delivery of tailored workshops.

Josh holds a Diploma in Transformational Coaching and a Certificate in Coaching for Leadership with the Institute of Leadership and Management, and is also qualified by SHL in the delivery of ability and personality tests.

Simon heads the Turnstone Law team as Director and has 25 years’ experience as a solicitor. Specialising in regulatory defence, he is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading health & safety lawyers.

His experience also covers fire safety, environmental defence, food safety, trading standards, product liability, white collar crime, judicial review, human rights, and commercial litigation. Having previously qualified as a doctor, Simon is uniquely placed to deal with technical, safety and health-related legal issues.

He represented Cotswold Geotech in the first case to be brought under the Corporate Manslaughter Act, in which he managed to get manslaughter charges against the managing director dropped.

He also acted successfully for the major oil companies in the aftermath of the Buncefield Oil Terminal explosion. Simon advises across all sectors, with special interests in construction, energy, services, manufacturing, retail, education and restructuring.

He chairs conferences and lectures regularly across the UK and in Europe, focusing on safety leadership and directors’ duties, giving practical advice on how to stay out of jail. He is the co-author of the textbook "Health & Safety Law for the Construction Industry". Simon’s previous roles in the City were at Clifford Chance and as a partner at Pinsent Masons, where he led their national health & safety team for 10 years.

I am studying maths, physics, product design and geography for a level, as well as an EPQ in materials sciences. With product design being my favourite subject, and maths and physics as facilitating subjects, I intend to study product/industrial/automotive design at university. 

Chris Keen is a chartered occupational hygienist with over 30 years of experience in assessing hazardous substance exposure and risk control strategies.

She has extensive experience of providing occupational hygiene support for HSE and commercial clients and has led several large-scale, multi-disciplinary research projects.

Chris regularly presents work to technical audiences and HSE’s external stakeholders and is HSE Science Division’s technical lead for occupational hygiene.

Spent 5 years in IT sales with 2 years as head of sales at one of the fastest growing VR companies in the UK.

Currently working with over 100 HSE managers from a range of industries from Oil & Gas, HSE training organisations, HSE associations, Medical industry and construction to effectively implement extended reality solutions into their companies. 

John is HSEQ Business Partner for ISS UK, part of the ISS global Facility Services management company. He is a safety professional with a particular interest in systems and Connected Safety – the application of IoT and AI in helping to make the world a safer place.

As a member of the SHP advisory panel, contributor and presenter at the Safety & Health Expo he will bring insights from the edge of safety tech. John writes a series of Robot Safety article on SHP.

I am currently studying Maths, Physic, Product Design and Geography as my A-Level subjects, along with AS Further Maths as enrichment. My subjects were selected to supplement my interest in the automotive / mechanical side of engineering as well my increasing interest in property development and construction, with the view to pursue either career path once I have left QE. 

Dr Lakany is an Electrical and Electronics engineer. She has received her PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. She works as an academic and researcher. She has extensive experience in applying novel Artificial intelligence methods in medical and engineering applications.  

She currently leads a research group in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. Dr Lakany's research group develops advanced soft robotic and wearable exoskeleton devices to interface with neural systems.

This is driven by the need to understand human movement control mechanisms and develop algorithms and systems that provide assistance, augmentation and rehabilitation for people with motor control impairment, upper limb mobility restriction and disability as well as a focus on supporting healthy and safe working and living.  

Dr Lakany collaborates closely with leading neuroscientists, clinicians and industrialists to develop advanced technologies in brain machine interfaces, artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics.

Dr Lakany promotes collaborative cross-disciplinary research through an international network of academic partners and promotes impact though relationships with multi-sector industry and clinical partners.  

Dr Lakany is a member of the Centre of Excellence in Rehabilitation Research, Scottish Centre for Innovation in Spinal Cord Injury and the EU COST action on Wearable Robotics. She is also an active member of the Strathclyde Ageing Initiative as well as being Innovation-to-Commercialisation of University Research (ICURe) entrepreneurial lead 

Chris Langer is a Human Factors and safety consultant and holds a Masters in Occupational Psychology. He is also a mindfulness trainer and works with the transport industry to deliver bespoke courses that improve attention and concentration, risk awareness, resilience, conflict resolution and wellbeing.

In addition, his areas of specialism include reporting, health and safety culture, and mental health.

Andy is the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing at Next Plc and is responsible for driving improvement across its stores and warehouses in the UK and Eire as well as its international garment sourcing offices.

He has a wealth of practical experience in developing and launching across his whole spectrum of responsibility and strongly believes in “sensible health and safety management”.

Prior to working at Next, he was Head of Environmental Health at Asda and an EHO in local government.

Neil joined Sainsbury’s in 2004 and has held a variety of Safety roles over the past 15years and is currently Group Head of Safety & Insurance covering H&S, Food Safety, Fire Safety, Claims & Insurance for Sainsbury’s Group –Sainsbury’s, Argos, Habitat, Sainsbury’s Bank & Nectar.

Neil originally trained as a Mechanical Engineer at Leeds University, has an MBA from Durham University and is a Chartered Member of IOSH& a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He spent his early career in Sales and Marketing roles before moving into H&S initially working for Air Products and Chemicals finally holding the post of European SH&E Manager before moving to British Airways and then onto Centrica again in safety roles.

In 2014 Neil took over as Chair of the CBI Health & Safety panel & in 2018 was appointed as the Non-Executive Director on the Parliamentary Safety Assurance Board.

Neil is married with 3 children and outside of work is particularly active in the area of Special Needs Education and “Independent living” having a son with Autism. He’s a very poor but enthusiastic golf player, a qualified SCUBA Diver and an RYA Qualified Day Skipper.

Paul Leonard, VP HSE  of Arkema  since 2012  

Multilingual and widely traveled Irishman who has spent 27 years with Dow Chemical in operations and projects in Germany, France, Michigan, Texas, and China has found an area he is intensely passionate about.

With his mantra of ZERO IS POSSIBLE and his department motto of HELPING PEOPLE PREVENT UNPLANNED EVENTS, Paul spends his time with an international and motivated team focused on improving safety performance with a 70 % reduction in injuries while at the same time helping create a single corporate culture in a group with almost 20000 employees in 55 countries.

Nick List is Customer Service Director for Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific (EMEA) at eDriving, helping clients to implement effective work-related road risk management programmes that help them understand and manage the risks they face, meet their health and safety, legal and CSR obligations, and sustainably reduce their collision rates.  

With a background of over 30 years in general insurance and risk management, Nick has helped customers of all types and sizes to improve fleet and driver safety.  

A dedicated member of the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) and active participant of the Insurance for Safer Roads collaboration, Nick has been co-organiser and co-host of road safety events in Ghana, Cameroon and Malaysia.

His personal commitment to safe driving has also led him to personally attain the highest achievable nationally recognised standard for a civilian driver within the UK, awarded by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). 

In November 2000 Paul was working as a Process Operator and Engineer at the Recycled Fibre Plant in Kemsley, Kent. He was involved in a machinery incident, which resulted in his left arm being severed above the elbow (to this date the first and only person in the UK).

Paul’s story was shown as part of the BBC’s 999 programme as his arm was retrieved and reattached. Whilst Paul has his arm back, with limited use, it does not hold him back. Paul is honest and open about that day and the lead up to the incident. With any incident it has generated a ripple that is continuing to this day.

The incident has also had a profound effect on Paul psychologically and socially, affecting his relationships with his wife (at the time), family, work mates and friends. Paul’s story is incredibly raw and powerful, as he talks about the mindsets in the workplace of all levels when they that get fogged with getting the job done, in his own honest way of expressing this fact.

Paul has spoken around the world to industries far and wide. Even though Paul’s story sits beautifully with those in manufacturing and engineering, the story suits all industries as it will helps with thought provoking align for organisations to where Paul, his colleagues and employer were, to that of their own current position concerning health and safety and the culture that exists within it.

He is passionate about technology in teaching having seen its ability to make learning more engaging, more inclusive, and more effective.

Adrian is a seasoned construction industry commentator and editor for an award-winning trade magazine for access and scaffolding plus another for the finishes and interiors sector.

Faye joined Mind in 2015 to lead on the development and implementation of a Cabinet funded programme to address the mental health of emergency services employees. Now, as Head of Workplace Wellbeing Programmes, Faye not only leads to the strategy and development of Mind’s Workplace Wellbeing programmes but leads to one of their biggest employee mental health programmes to date. Faye heads up the Heads Together Workplace Wellbeing programme at Mind, with funding from The Royal Foundation, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.

Alistair Melville is a project manager at Costain working specialising in the highways sector. With a career spanning over 25 years in construction, his experience comes from working on a vast range of projects both in the UK and overseas.

Maeve O’Loughlin is a Senior Lecturer in Health, Safety and Environmental management at Middlesex University London. She is an IOSH chartered safety practitioner with research interests in adaptive and resilient performance of industry in response to safety and sustainability challenges. She is academic lead for the PIPER Initiative. She is also a member of the Supply Chain Sustainability School Academic Horizon Group and the Dublin Regional Centre for Excellence in Education for Sustainable Development. Her work extends from environment, health and safety (EHS) management to social sustainability with specific interests in resilience engineering and adaptive safety, sustainability and understanding institutional mechanisms which influence organisations. Maeve worked in private practice prior to joining the university in 2012 working in the built environment sector and high risk industries.

Jonathan began his professional life in the insurance industry and in June 1999 was appointed Managing Director of the FPA. Jonathan has served on numerous government, ministerial and sector advisory bodies and was part of the strategic advisory group on the Fire Futures Review.

He is the UK’s representative at the General Assemblies of CFPA Europe and CFPA International, he sits on the Executive of the Fire Sector Federation, and is a member of the Boards of BASEC, SSIAB and BAFE on which he chairs the SP203 Group. In 2017 Jonathan was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to fire safety.  

Sheila works in the UK and internationally in information provision, strongly committed to the use of computers and technology in information management and associated training and mentoring.

She has been running her two companies since 1993.

She has worked in a variety of major heavy industries. With 25 years of experience, James has extensive experience in designing and implementing successful behaviour change within organisations and embracing a positive approach. People and culture change has been a consistent theme in James’ career. Matt Powell-Howard graduated in Safety and Environmental Management from the University of Hull and holds a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of York.

He worked initially in the chemical process industry in the UK for a number of top tier COMAH sites before moving on to SHE roles in consultancy, manufacturing, construction, quarrying and the hydrocarbon industries.  

Matt joined NEBOSH in 2006 and has held various roles during that time. Matt is currently the NEBOSH Qualification Development Manager with responsibility for the development of new NEBOSH qualifications and maintenance of the existing portfolio of Awards.  

He has 18 years’ experience in Health, Safety and Environmental Management, is a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner and a registered European Occupational Safety and Health Manager.

Helen has over 10 years’ experience working in safety across a wide range of industries, including construction, manufacturing, recycling and real estate. Helen sits on the review board for the UK industry magazine- SHP, she has a degree in Health and Safety management and has a strong passion for changing perceptions of the industry as well as encouraging businesses to connect with their people to understand what work is really like. 

Sean is an accomplished work and organisational psychologist, specialising in psychological diagnostics of the workplace. 

Having served over 30 years as an Army Officer, he has extensive experience as a leader practitioner, which is complemented by his thorough knowledge and experience of the design and implementation of training and developmental change programs in a multitude of cross-cultural, global environments.

Sean’s interest in psychology was borne out of curiosity, passion for people and a desire to create and implement the best working environment with often limited resources.  He graduated from the Open University with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in 2013 and went on to gain an MSc in Occupational Psychology from the University of Leicester in 2015.

Sean is a registered psychometrics test user with the British Psychological Society and is trained in a variety of leading psychometrics tools. Sean is an active member of the British Psychological Society and the Division of Occupational Psychology, where he enjoys constantly refreshing his skills with current research. 

Melvin was an Inspector with the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for 16 years. He worked as a regulatory inspector in the food, agriculture and woodwork industries and latterly in the HSE’s Entertainment and Leisure Sector.

His main areas of expertise are in the entertainment and leisure industry. He was HSE’s operational policy lead for fairgrounds and theme parks for 7 years.

He provided expert advice and opinion to numerous HSE and local authority investigations, enforcement, and prosecutions in areas as diverse as theme parks, theatre ceiling integrity, and zip wires.

Melvin has wide, working experience in the applicability, interpretation and appropriate use of standards, guidance, legislation, and enforcement in the leisure industry; he was the lead author for numerous HSE guidance documents including HSG 175. He trained and managed the work of HSE’s National Fairground Inspection Team.

Recently he has been involved in reviewing the safety standards for multi-car roller coasters, inflatable play equipment, and water-based rides.

Sarah is Safety & Assurance Performance Manager for HS2 Ltd.  She is an H&S Professional, GradIOSH, with over 8 years’ experience within health and safety in utilities and construction, mainly in reporting and engagement roles.   

She ensures that HSE reporting is simple, easy and that the data reported is analysed and converted into meaningful information to keep everyone safe. 

Neil and his team have over 20 years’ experience as OSH professionals in a variety of sectors including Major Construction, Building Maintenance, Retail Construction, H&S Consultancy, Health & Safety Training, Behavioural Safety Training and Leadership Development Training.

Neil has enjoyed incorporating what he has learnt across many industries including his Military experience. Utilising valuable skills learnt during his time in the military, Neil believes in creating change by fostering a belief that true leadership at the “Sharp End” is the key to success 

Neil’s previous experience includes serving 27 years in the armed forces from private soldier to commissioned officer serving in many countries around the world and was awarded a commendation for active service.

Claire has a BEng in Manufacturing Engineering with Business studies.  The subsequent years after University were spent learning how to put manufacturing management into theory, and then becoming a Quality Manager for a Tier-one Automotive Manufacturer.

Next was a role in a National Grid subsidiary company RTM which specialised in building and maintain mobile phone masts.   

In the following 12 years in National Grid her remit expanded to include not only Environmental and Quality management but also Health and Safety.  In 2014 she joined Severn Trent Water as a Health and Safety Business Leader. 

Health and Safety Management is an area that Claire continues to feel very passionate about. Seeing first-hand the impact an injury can have on an individual, their families and their work colleagues has driven her to want to help organisations to implement effective, pragmatic and safe ways of working.

She has seen through great leadership how one individual can truly make a difference and undoubtedly save lives.  Her role is to support those leaders to have the safety vision and to make that impact. 

Rowen trained as a teacher before working for many years within social services. He then specialised in the field of mediation and conflict resolution before running a charity bringing different generations together.

Rowen also worked as a trainer for Relate – creating and delivering a variety of courses in a wide range of workplace settings. He has also worked in the field of bereavement and his current role at Family Links focuses on the creation delivery and support of Family Links’ extensive training offer.

Rowen believes passionately that self-motivation and empowerment are crucial factors for a healthy and productive work environment.

Philip joined former pharmaceutical company Schering-Plough Ltd in June 2002 as EHS Regional Manager providing support to Manufacturing, Warehouse and Distribution Centres in Europe. Schering-Plough Ltd was purchased by Merck & Co Inc. in 2009, known as MSD Ltd (Merck Sharp and Dohme Ltd.) in Europe.

Since 2010 Philip has been EHS Director, Corporate - Global Safety and Environmental (GSE) EEMEA Region - Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East Africa, South Africa, Turkey and Russia - for Commercial Offices, Warehouse and Distribution Centres for HH (Human Health) and AH (Animal Health).

George believes that everyone should be protected while working.

Particularly those whose role means they can be alone or out-of-sight of colleagues and can, therefore, face increased risks to health and safety.

As the CEO of Lone Worker Solutions, he leads a fantastic team who have developed Safe Hub; a state-of-the-art system designed to provide protection and support for lone and remote workers in real-world situations.

A non-executive director of several businesses, George was formerly MD of Skills Hub and oversaw IT system deployments at BP, Accenture and Dell Perot Systems.

Martin is a Chartered Occupational Hygienist, with over 30 years’ experience. He spent 10 years in consultancy, gaining extensive experience of measurement and assessment, before joining HSE in 1993.

As a Principal Specialist Inspector, he headed the Organic Chemicals and Asbestos section, developing national risk management strategies aimed at reducing risks to health in various industry sectors. With regard to asbestos, he provided technical expertise to all parts of HSE, other government departments and ministers, as well as sitting on various expert committees. He provided expertise to the development of legislation and authored various guidance documents.

Martin left HSE in 2004 to set up a small independent consultancy with another ex-HSE Specialist Inspector (Tracey Boyle), advising companies on all aspects of asbestos and occupational hygiene, and he acts as an expert with regard to criminal prosecutions, civil litigation, and personal injury claims. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene within BOHS (the British Occupational Hygiene Society) and he was Registrar to the Faculty (2011 to 2016).

He is now Registrar of the Faculty of Asbestos Assessment and Management (FAAM).

Rob Stephenson is a full-time mental health campaigner and founder of InsideOut, a social enterprise with the mission of smashing the stigma of mental ill health in the workplace.

Prior to founding  SoloProtect, Craig worked for several technology companies, invariably always with wireless technologies. He has worked for companies in the US and UK, always in a commercial capacity.  

Louise Taggart spent 13 years working as an employment lawyer for a top Scottish firm. However, a personal tragedy led to her attentions becoming focused on the field of health and safety.

Her brother Michael Adamson was only 26 years old and engaged to be married when he lost his life in an electrical incident which could and should have been prevented.

Lessons must be learned and Louise now tells Michael's story in workplaces across many sectors and on major projects, including the Aircraft Carrier Alliance, Crossrail and the Tottenham Hotspur stadium build.

In doing so, she draws strength from the support group she joined following Michael’s death, the name of which is unashamedly designed to make people sit up and take some notice, as it is Families Against Corporate Killers, or FACK for short.

In June 2018, Louise was named the "Most Influential Person in Health and Safety in the UK" by Safety and Health Practitioner magazine.

She is also a trustee of health and safety charity Scottish Hazards, where she is focussed on securing long-term funding for an occupational health and safety advice, training and support service for workers.

Her primary aim in all she does is to stop anyone else from losing their life or their loved one in a preventable workplace incident.

Julian Taylor is Head of Solutions Architects at SHE Software. He manages a global team based in the UK and North America, who all work closely with organisations to clearly map out their issues, challenges, and objectives to identify how technology can support and resolve/meet these. 

 He has worked within the health and safety sector for 20 years in a variety of HR and training roles and is NEBOSH qualified. Julian regularly presents on a webinar series discussing how organisations can take an innovative approach to manage health and safety through the use of technology.

He is passionate about engaging and empowering the broader teams within organisations to make safety happen and 'simply be part of what we do. 

Mary worked in various NHS and community settings as a music therapist before moving into education. She has 30 years’ experience in schools and has held various senior leadership positions including Deputy Head (Social and Emotional Learning) and Safeguarding Lead.

She has used Family Links programmes with staff, parents and pupils, for 20 years and has developed a particular interest in what it takes to develop and maintain an emotionally healthy culture where relationships and learning can flourish.

Kendelle is a Senior Product Manager at Acre Frameworks, supporting the non-technical development of H&S professionals through the development and delivery of bespoke learning and development solutions.

She is a trained research psychologist with a Master’s degree from King’s College London in Mental Health Studies. Kendelle has a research background in the treatment of affective disorders and clinical expertise in psychological diagnostics and assessment.

Michael Edwards, famously known as "Eddie the Eagle", is an English skier who in 1988 made the world headlines by representing Great Britain in the 70m and 90m ski jumping at the Calgary Olympics. He was also the British ski jumping record holder and, after retiring from ski jumping, Eddie went on to become ninth in the world amateur speed skiing, and a stunt jumping world record holder for jumping over 6 buses.

Eddie is famous for personifying the Olympic spirit and for his determination to represent his country without any form of funding. With a law degree from De Montfort University in Leicester, he works as a commentator for numerous TV shows and is also a motivational speaker at conferences and corporate events.

George Thompson works for Comau U.K. and is the Account Manager Robotics UK & Ireland and is an industry expert in Robotics and Automation all industries. 

George has worked for Comau since 2015, since joining Comau he has grown the Robotics & Automation side of the business into a very healthy operational sector, George has worked in similar roles in Automotive and General Industry where he has worked for many years. 

Stacy has been working in mental health for over 15 years with a wide range of credentials and experience, from running her own Performance Coaching Consultancy to being an award-winning mental health nurse as well as a mental health speaker, consultant, and trainer.

Stacy is a Co-Founder of Thrive in the City and sits on the advisory board of Mad World Advisory Board and InsideOut List; she previously sat on the leadership team at [email protected] during which she was responsible for running the network in 2017. She has worked with Thomson Reuters, AIG, HSBC, Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith Freehills, Allen & Overy, City Corporation of London, and Mitie to name just a few. 

Necmi received BS degrees in Technical Education Faculty from Marmara University. M.S. degree in Occupational Health and Safety from Uskudar University. His thesis based on Machinery Safety, especially for Mechanical Presses. 

He did work at Pilz GmbH including being the Regional Sales Manager, International Consultancy & Customer Service Coordinator and Export Sales Manager between 2004-2010. Trained on European Directives and European Norms about Machinery Safety in Germany and Ireland. He forwarded his knowledge to Ministry of Industry/Labor, to more than hundreds of associations and companies with several seminars as the speaker. 

He joined BSH Company as Machinery Safety Expert in 2010. He promoted to head position of Safety Section in 2012, promoted to Health, Safety and Environment Manager position in 2014, took Fire Department responsibility and became responsible for all region (Turkey, Middle East, Africa, Russia and CIS) in 2016. 

Furthermore, he is actively working on behavioral safety management system together with a psychologist by using psycho-technic test equipments and some special methods. In addition, he is working on innovative projects, which supported by industry 4.0 technology to improve HSE management system, like RFID technology, artificial intelligence, etc. 

Sarah Valentine is a Senior Associate in our Environment, Health and Safety team where she acts for companies and individuals who are being prosecuted for manslaughter offences (including corporate manslaughter) and offences relating to health and safety, fire safety and food safety and hygiene.

Sarah is frequently called in to advise clients on site following fatal and serious workplace incidents where urgent assistance is required in the face of Police and other regulatory authority investigations (HSE, Environment Agency, CQC and the ORR). She also regularly advises clients during criminal and regulatory investigations and provides representation at PACE and other interviews and at Inquests.

Sarah is a regular advocate in the Magistrates' Court and Traffic Commissioner Inquiries. She also prosecutes organisations on behalf of water utilities companies in relation to illegal connections.  Sarah is an Assistant Deputy Coroner for London Inner South. This judicial appointment will compliment Sarah’s existing coronial caseload as an advocate experienced in representing interested persons in inquests covering the range of complexities, including deaths in custody, workplace incidents, mental health investigations and jury inquests.

Sarah provides pragmatic and strategic compliance and risk management advice to senior management teams within a variety of sectors to include construction, manufacturing, retail, healthcare and transport and distribution.

She is now driven towards improving the industry and working with others to help lead the H&S industry into the next era. 

Louise Ward is a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner with over 20 years experience. Her career has spanned a range of business sectors and high profile companies including British Nuclear Fuels, News International. BP, JP MorganChase, the Engineering Employers Federation, the Civil Service, Network Rail, Thames Water, and the British Safety Council.  She is now Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Director for Siemens Mobility, overseeing rail and traffic management operations across the UK.

As well as being a practicing health and safety specialist, Louise has been involved in the development of legislation, guidance material and regulatory policy. She has a particular interest in professional development and supports a number of initiatives in this area.

She is a visiting lecturer at Middlesex University and a member of a trailblazer group developing degree-level apprenticeships.  Louise writes regularly for the trade press, and recently co-authored a handbook about wellbeing which has been published by Routledge. 

Jen Webster joined the Health and Safety Executives research laboratory in Buxton in 2008 and is a Chartered Psychologist (Occupational Psychology) and an Associate Fellow of the Britsh Psychology Society. Jen works mainly with organisations to help develop their safety culture both here in the UK and overseas.

More recently, she has been involved in helping HSE develop its existing body of knowledge around the impact demographic change will have on health and safety, and she is also leading on research to understand the potential risks posed by new ways of working and technological change.

Richard Weston works for Comau U.K. and is the Business Development Manager and regularly speaks at industry forums in automotive and General Industry.

Barry is an influential safety professional with a talent for delivering innovative and efficient safety solutions and has been a driving force in helping Notify evolve through real-world insight gained from the use of the software at Travis Perkins, ensuring it continually meets the ever-changing needs of the modern workplace."

Larry Wilson is a pioneer in the area of Human Factors in safety. During his work as a behaviour-based safety consultant, Larry realised the need for a programme that went beyond the limitations that he saw in Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS). A safety programme focused on unintentional human errors and the states that lead to the critical errors that cause more than 90% of accidents on and off the job.

This programme is SafeStart, which he developed and officially launched it in 1998. Getting people comfortable enough to talk about what really happened and to say whether rushing frustration, fatigue and complacency were involved was the key in developing what Larry is probably best known for: being the author and creator of SafeStart, an advanced safety awareness training programme currently being used by over 4 million employees in 65 countries.

Larry is also the author of SafeTrack, a traditional observation and feedback process. To complement the adult training programmes, Larry has also written and produced video training programmes for children, teenagers and the family, all included in the home kit called SafeStart Home & Awards.

Along with co-author Gary Higbee, Larry wrote the book, “Inside Out—Rethinking Traditional Safety Management Paradigms”. Larry was also the editor for, “3rd Generation Safety—Using Neuroscience to Enable Personal Safety”, by Cristian Sylvestre. In addition, Larry is the author of dozens of articles published in safety magazines worldwide.

Paul has worked in health, safety and environmental management for over 20 years, gaining experience through holding numerous senior health and safety roles in global engineering and construction organisations and Delivery Partner organisations established for mega projects including the London 2012 Olympic Park and Venues and the Hinkley Point C New Nuclear Power Station. He is a passionate enthusiast for attaining excellence in leadership; risk management; and workforce engagement. 

Carolyn is Operations Director of OCAID Wellbeing. She is an organisational psychologist with significant experience in the Health, Safety and Wellbeing field.

Prior to that she successfully ran her own business for over 20 years, including some time living and working in Australia. Carolyn has a proven international track record in numerous industry sectors including construction, oil and gas, food, utilities, packaging and retail.

Carolyn has co-authored a book about Employee Assistance Programmes with Professor Sir Cary Cooper and is an experienced conference speaker with a number of papers and publications to her name. Carolyn is highly skilled and practised in benchmarking and designing organisational Wellbeing and Safety Culture interventions that enhance employee engagement and wellbeing, resulting in resilient people in resilient organisations.

Her aim is always to help to create sustainable change within organisations, enabling them to continuously improve their Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture.
