What's on at Safety & Health Expo?
The theme of Safety & Health Expo 2020 is “Health and Safety is a Team Sport”. The seminars at this year’s show cast the health and safety agenda in terms of a widening understanding of the value of teamwork. The programme examines risk beyond the typical categories of the workforce, supply chain and public protection.
We have sessions dedicated to the latest occupational standards, including a look at the runners and riders of ISO45001, and the newest protection measures against carcinogenic hazards, not least the reclassification of welding fumes. Visitors to the show will be able to hear about and trial some of the very latest safety tech and PPE and hear about the interplay of human factors and increasing automation.
One of our headline speakers for 2020 is Mind Ambassador, Alistair Campbell. We start this new decade with a stronger understanding than ever of the importance of health in safety, and the centrality of mental health to overall wellbeing and performance at work. Our seminars include case studies that show how different sectors are supporting the mental health of their employees, including a cross-industry view on safer infrastructure.
The Leadership Theatre explores safety culture in terms of each layer of an organisation, with a focus on the pivotal role of leaders in embodying and enabling exemplary health and safety. Engagement is a core topic for the workforce, and we consider the importance of managers in upholding optimum standards and inspiring safe behaviours.
The Operational Excellence Theatre includes a daily session dedicated to excellence in core skills in health and safety, including accident prevention, accident investigation, interviewing witnesses and crisis management. Our popular fleet session will consider operational excellence on the road.
The Safety Tech & PPE Theatre highlights the cutting edge of safety technology and PPE. Our seminars and demos will bring you up to date on the latest in hazard management, covering different areas of risk, and the use of technology and increasing automation in the field of health of safety.
Our headline sessions in the keynote theatre will see celebrity speakers from outside the profession share their stories from working in top-flight teams, and in extraordinary working environments. The show will also welcome Professor Ivan Robertson, whose keynote will reference the key studies and latest evidence that informs our understanding of happy and productive work.
Panel discussions will be used to explore perspectives from different leaders, and from across different sectors—expect to hear directly from CEOs in our Keynote and Leadership theatres.
Many sessions will be rich in case studies and best practice, with opportunities for Q&A. Meanwhile, the Safety Tech and PPE theatre is the place to hear about innovation and to literally get to grips with some of the latest kit.
